Yes, it is free (within reason)
When something is wrong with your well, the first question is usually what it will cost just to find out. With us, a free well diagnosis means we figure out what is wrong and tell you, with no charge for the diagnosis itself.
We say within reason because we are a small, family-owned company. Ken Lindgren started it in 1987, his son John runs it today, and Ken’s grandson Brandon is the newest on the team. We do not have a fleet of trucks sitting around, so we ask for a little common sense on both sides, and we give the same back.
Starting on the phone
We cover a wide area across five counties. We like to try a phone diagnosis first, whoever is calling. Many well problems can be narrowed down with the right questions: what the pressure gauge says, whether you hear the pump, and what happened right before the water stopped.
Sometimes that call solves it, like a tripped breaker. Sometimes it tells us which parts to bring, which saves you time. Either way, it is free advice from a family that has been doing this for 39 years. See our service areas for where we work.
What a diagnosis includes
A diagnosis means finding the cause, not guessing. Depending on the problem, it can include:
- Talking through the symptoms with you and what changed.
- Checking the breaker, the pressure switch and the pressure gauge.
- Checking the air charge in your pressure tank.
- Taking electrical readings on the pump circuit to see how the motor is doing.
- Looking at the well head, the cap and the ground around the well for leaks or damage.
- Checking the house for leaks, like a running toilet, that keep a pump running.
A diagnosis is not a full well inspection for a home sale, and it is not a water test. Those are separate services, and we are happy to explain the difference.
What happens after the diagnosis
We tell you what we found in plain English. If it is a simple fix, we explain it. If it is bigger, like a failed pump, a waterlogged tank or a leak at the pitless adapter, we lay out your options and what each involves. Then you decide.
There is no pressure. If you want to think it over, get another opinion, or plan the work for later, that is fine with us. We would rather earn your trust than push a sale. If the job is a new pump, our pump installs carry a 5-year warranty, and our work meets county code.
