City water inside, wells just outside
Fredericksburg itself is mostly on public water. Step outside the city and many homes rely on private wells. If yours is one of them, you need someone who works on wells, not someone who works on city service lines.
We are a third-generation family well company, and we cover the 22401, 22405 and 22407 area. Call 703-791-3981 first. We can often diagnose by phone and save you the wait.
Water pooling near the well
A wet spot or puddle near the well head that will not dry out is worth a call. So is a hissing sound. It can mean a leak at the pitless adapter or inside the well. Left alone, the pump may run more than it should.
Our guide on water pooling near a well explains the causes. We handle water line repair, pitless adapter replacement and trenching.
Here is what you can safely do. Turn the well breaker off if the pump seems to run nonstop. Keep kids and pets away from soft ground near the well. Then call and tell us where the water shows up and whether it gets worse when someone runs water inside.
Well pump repair in Fredericksburg: other common calls
Rotten egg smell
A sulfur smell is usually a water quality issue, not a pump failure. A sulfur filter often fixes it. See why well water smells like rotten eggs.
Pressure going up and down
If pressure rises and falls, the pressure tank may be losing its charge. With the well breaker off and the water drained, the tank’s air should sit about 2 psi below the switch’s low number, around 38 on a 40-60 switch. Our pressure tank guide shows how to check.
No water
Turn the well breaker off and call 703-776-0996. No-water calls take priority. Tell us about any recent power outage, since some pressure switches drop out after one and need a reset.
New pumps, done to code
When a pump is worn out, we replace it with Gould, Myers or Grundfos, and back the install with a 5-year warranty. We are licensed and insured.
