No Water Right Now? Call 703-776-0996
Our emergency line is answered 24/7. No-water calls take priority over everything else on the schedule. If you lose water at 6am, we are typically there by 9 or 10am.
Timing depends on how the day is running, and we will always give you an honest estimate on the phone. Keep the emergency number handy on the fridge or in your phone, so you are not hunting for it with a dry faucet.
What to Check First, Safely
- Is it the whole house? If only one faucet is dry, the problem is probably inside the house, not the well.
- Check the well breaker. If it tripped, you can reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off and call us.
- Was there a recent power outage? Some pressure switches have a low-pressure cutoff that drops out after an outage and will not restart on its own. Do not open the switch cover. Call and we can talk you through what you are seeing.
- Look for obvious leaks. Water pooling near the well or a burst line can drain the system.
You can also glance at the pressure gauge near the tank. If it reads zero or very low with the breaker on, that points to the pump, the switch or the power supply. Write down what you see, since it helps us on the phone.
Do not touch wiring or try to pull the pump. For more detail, read lost water after a power outage.
What Happens When You Call
You talk to someone who knows wells. We ask what happened, what you checked and what the gauge shows. Sometimes that is enough to sort it out over the phone. If not, you go to the front of the line and we head out with the parts we are most likely to need.
On site, we find the cause before replacing anything. We explain what failed, what the fix involves and your options, then we get your water back on.
Why Wells Stop Working
Most no-water calls come down to a handful of causes:
- A worn-out pump, since pumps last on average 10 to 15 years
- A failed pressure switch or control
- A waterlogged or failed pressure tank
- A leak in the water line or pitless adapter
- Electrical trouble between the house and the well
A pump that runs and never shuts off is a different problem, and it can even be a running toilet.
Diagnosis is free within reason. If you need a new pump, our well pump repair and replacement installs carry a 5-year warranty. We install Gould, Myers and Grundfos pumps.
